CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man has pleaded guilty in a drunken driving crash that killed his friend last year.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/1AxRdv0 ) 70-year-old William Christie has pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide. He faces nine months in jail and 5 years of probation as part of a plea deal.

Prosecutors say Christie flipped his Jeep in February 2014, killing 59-year-old Michael Demartino. Christie was ejected and Demartino’s body ended up behind the steering wheel.

Authorities say his blood alcohol content was .18 percent. That’s more than double the legal limit.

He’ll be sentenced on Aug. 12.
