MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minneapolis Veterans Home is getting $38 million in federal funds that will be used for a new 100-bed skilled nursing facility.
Minnesota Public Radio News (https://bit.ly/1AxM1ac ) reports the funding was announced Thursday by Gov. Mark Dayton. A redevelopment that started in 2010 is replacing facilities on the campus that dates back to the late 1800s. The project includes exercise and therapy space that are under construction.
The state has contributed nearly $19 million to the project’s final phase. Minnesota Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Shellito says it will start as soon as possible and should take a little longer than a year to complete.
