ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - Members of the Ohio University Singers know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll, but they’re still elated to be performing onstage with The Rolling Stones this weekend in Columbus.

Thirty-two members of the southeastern Ohio college’s most select choir will perform the backing vocals during the band’s rendition of its 1969 song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” at Ohio Stadium on Saturday night.

Hiring an area choir to back the band during that song is a longtime concert staple for the Stones.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the connection came through the ensemble’s director, Daniel Hall. A former teacher of Hall’s now is at the University of Southern California and recommended the Ohio University outfit when the band contacted USC scouting choirs.
