OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Producers of the feature film “American Honey” say they plan to make the movie in Oklahoma.

“American Honey” tells the story of a teenage girl with nothing to lose who joins a traveling magazine sales crew and gets caught up in a whirlwind of hard partying, law bending and young love as she travels across the Midwest with the band of misfits.

Helmed by internationally acclaimed and Academy Award-winning writer-director Andrea Arnold, the movie will mark the British filmmaker’s first feature film to be shot in the United States. The movie stars Shia LaBeouf, who previously starred in “Transformers” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

Pre-production began recently in Muskogee. Co-producer Julia Oh says the city and its residents have been very supportive of the project.
