CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Natrona County School District trustee has been sentenced to one year of probation and a one-year suspended jail sentence for charges that he harassed a large herd of elk in Converse County.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1JYg4tA ) that Kevin Christopherson pleaded no contest on May 20 after months of legal battling. In addition to his probation, he will pay a $1,500 fine and lose his hunting privileges for a year.
The sentence comes after Christopherson filmed a herd of elk on Sept. 23 southeast of Casper while flying closely overhead in an ultra-light trike, a small aircraft. He posted the footage to social media where it garnered thousands of clicks.
Christopherson said he doesn’t believe what he did was harmful and that he was trying to show the size of the herd.
