WAWARSING, N.Y. (AP) - Three members of a church in Brooklyn were killed when the van they were riding in was struck by a tractor trailer in upstate New York.
State police in Ulster County say the van was entering Route 209 in the Town of Wawarsing at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday when it was broadsided by the tractor trailer.
Police say the driver of the van and another passenger were airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. Their conditions were not known.
Two other passengers in the van and the driver of the tractor trailer were treated for minor injuries.
Police say the seven occupants in the van had been attending a religious retreat at Honors Haven Resort in Ellenville.
The accident remains under investigation.
