ST. HELEN, Mich. (AP) - A wildfire in the northern Lower Peninsula has destroyed a home and four sheds.

The Department of Natural Resources says roughly 20 homes were evacuated in Ogemaw County, between St. Helen and West Branch. Residents were told they can return Sunday.

The 341-acre fire was the largest of 38 weekend wildfires handled by DNR crews and volunteer fire departments. Most fires were less than 20 acres.

Fire danger is high in Michigan because of warm weather and a lack of rain. Burn permits are not being issued in the northern Lower Peninsula.
