NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - New Britain police say a man has been arrested on charges in a Connecticut house fire.
Police say state troopers spotted flames at the house on Wilson Street at 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Local police and firefighters responded. Officers woke up a man in the home and escorted him out safely.
Police say the man’s girlfriend approached them outside and said she was hiding from 44-year-old Daniel Bridgett because she was afraid of him. Police say the woman told them she saw Bridgett come to the house then leave shortly before the fire started.
Police say Bridgett was arrested at his residence on arson and reckless endangerment charges. He was being held on $250,000 bond. His arraignment is Monday.
A dog and a cat were killed in the blaze.
