JACKSON, N.J. (AP) - One person was killed and three others were seriously injured when two sport utility vehicles collided in southern New Jersey.
Authorities say the crash occurred around 10:15 a.m. Sunday in Jackson Township, at the intersection of Cedar Swamp Road and West Commodore Boulevard.
James McCarthy, a 68-year-old township resident who was a passenger in one of the SUV’s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The driver of that SUV, 67-year-old township resident Susan McCarthy, and two Lakewood residents in the other vehicle - 51-year-old Shmuel Merman and 50-year-old Ahuva Merman - were all hospitalized with serious injuries. But further details on their conditions were not disclosed.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
