TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A 54-year-old man shot his girlfriend and then killed himself Saturday night after they had a fight, police said.

The murder-suicide took place about 6:15 p.m. at the man’s home in the city’s midtown area, police said in a statement.

Sandra Hatfield, 64, went to Andrew Poe’s home and an argument began in front of the house shortly thereafter, police said. Hatfield started to damage Poe’s vehicle, and then the argument turned into a fight, police said.

Officers arrived at the house just as the dispute turned physical, police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Bay said.

Hatfield and Poe then went inside the house, where Poe shot and killed Hatfield before killing himself, police said.

The officers then went inside and found both dead with obvious signs of trauma, Bay said.
