APPOMATTOX, Va. (AP) - Schools in Appomattox County in Virginia will reopen Monday after four schools were closed Friday due to threats against students and the death of a 16-year-old.
The News & Advance (https://bit.ly/1Azqg4m ) reports a series of threats came in, possibly via social media, on Thursday. Dozens of parents and students called 911 dispatchers to report their concerns. The threats were directed to students at Appomattox County High School. Parents were notified early Friday of official’s decision to close the district’s four public schools.
The sheriff was also looking into the death of a 16-year-old Appomattox County High School student early Friday morning. Authorities have not said if there is any connection between the threats and the student’s death.
The sheriff did not identify the student who died.
