NEENAH, Wis. (AP) - Family and friends of a Neenah family who lost two members when a university student opened fire along a Wisconsin bike trail are mourning at a church.
Jonathan Stoffel, his 11-year-old daughter, Olivia Stoffel, and Adam Bentdahl all were killed when Sergio Daniel Valencia del Toro opened fire along the path in Menasha Sunday. Jonathan Stoffel’s wife, Erin, was wounded. The couple’s two other small children survived unharmed. Del Toro killed himself.
More than 100 people gathered Monday at Calvary Bible Church in Neenah. Olivia attended fifth grade at a school attached to the church. Her friend, 10-year-old Grace Demerath, cried and asked why Olivia had to die.
Erin Stoffel’s friend, Tati Schroth, said the Stoffels were warm and genuine. She says she’s in a state of disbelief.
