ORLAND PARK, Ill. (AP) - State environmental officials say pollution cleanup at a former Orland Park industrial site might be completed.

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency says it’s reviewing a report by a consultant hired to clean up the 75-acre site where Andrew Corp. made wireless communications equipment for decades.

The Daily Southtown reports that (https://trib.in/1DWvloT ) the consultant, Environmental Resources Management, believes the cleanup is “essentially done.”

The IEPA will review the report and results of post-treatment soil testing. If the agency that the site is clean enough, then it can be offered for sale for industrial or commercial use.

Tests in 2008 found contaminants including PCBs at the site. Cleanup has been ongoing for about five years. Some of the contaminated soil was removed and some of it was treated.
