WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) - Colonial Williamsburg is preparing to revive a structure that once was an economic, social and cultural hub for the town.

The Market House will be reconstructed in Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area on Tuesday. The timber-framed structure originally was built in 1757.

Master carpenter Garland Wood leads a team of carpenters working on project. He tells the Daily Press (https://bit.ly/1KGEshOV ) that the Market House hasn’t been part of Williamsburg’s landscape since 1790.

The Historic Area’s brickmakers, blacksmiths and joiners have provided bricks, windows and hardware for the building.

The $1 million project is being funded by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation trustee Forrest Mars.
