WASHINGTON (AP) - Gas prices in the D.C. metro area are up 8 cents from a week ago.

In its weekly report, AAA said Sunday that the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $2.58, up from $2.50 a week ago. The price is $1.10 lower than this time a year ago, when the price was $3.68.

The price of gas in the metro area is 4 cents below the national average of $2.62.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in the District of Columbia alone is $2.70, up 7 cents from a week ago.
