ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - A 36-year-old Gary woman accused of killing the mother of a newborn is back in Indiana.

The Herald Bulletin reports (https://bit.ly/1ERVVmZ ) Geraldine Jones was booked into the Madison County Jail early Sunday on charges of murder, kidnapping and criminal confinement. An initial hearing hasn’t been scheduled.

Jones is accused of posing as a state child welfare worker and luring 23-year-old Samantha Fleming of Anderson to Lake County last month under the pretense that Fleming had a court hearing. Authorities say Fleming’s body was found in a Gary home on April 17. Fleming’s daughter, Serenity, was found in the care of a woman claiming to be Jones’ sister.

Meanwhile, Jones fled to Texas, where she was arrested three days later.

Online court records list no attorney for Jones.
