COVENTRY, Conn. (AP) - Four female members of a northeastern Connecticut high school crew team were hospitalized after their boat got into an accident on Coventry Lake.

Authorities say a Sea-Doo watercraft crashed into the 56-foot rowing shell belonging to Storrs’ Edwin O. Smith High School crew team on Sunday.

Environmental conservation police were called at about 3:15 p.m. The girls were taken by ambulance to Windham Hospital, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, which has jurisdiction on the lakes. The owner and operator of the 14-foot watercraft was unharmed in the accident and is cooperating with police.
