HOWELL, Mich. (AP) - Jury selection is underway in the trial of a man accused of committing murder in a road rage incident in southeastern Michigan.
Derek Flemming was shot in the head in September after getting out of his vehicle to ask Martin Zale about his aggressive driving. It occurred in Livingston County’s Genoa Township, 45 miles northwest of Detroit.
Jury selection started Monday. Opening statements might occur Wednesday or Thursday.
Flemming’s wife, Amy, says Zale was cutting them off and driving aggressively. She says her husband was shot when he approached Zale’s pickup truck while stopped in traffic near Howell.
But defense attorney Melissa Pearce says she’ll try to show that the 43-year-old Flemming was the person with a reputation for being aggressive.
