KENNEBUNK, Maine (AP) - A Maine woman is back home in Kennebunk after being stranded in Nepal for the last week after a devastating earthquake struck.

WCSH-TV (https://on.wcsh6.com/1KHMaIE ) reports Kathleen Nolan was trekking in Langtang National Park when the earthquake hit. The station reports Nolan and the group she was with ran for cover against a mountain wall as boulders rained down.

Nolan says she believed she was “going to die” after the earthquake struck. But she says she and the group hiked up a hill to a cave and set up camp, filtered water to drink and foraged for food. A group member’s satellite phone allowed the hikers to give coordinates to a rescue helicopter which took them to Kathmandu.

Nolan says she wants to go back to Nepal someday to help rebuild.
