LILBURN, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia man has been charged with killing his wife after an argument.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/1OSGXnd ) reports 59-year-old Rupert Clarke and his wife, 56-year-old Rose Marie Lebert, had a dispute over finances at their home Saturday afternoon. Lilburn police chief Bruce Hedley says Clarke shot and killed Lebert with a handgun.

Police say an adult son was at the home and called 911 after hearing the shots. Clarke surrendered when officers arrived and was sent to Gwinnett County Detention Center, where he was charged with murder and aggravated assault.

It is unclear if Clarke has a lawyer.
