OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - An Opelika man who left a detention center turned himself in.

The Opelika-Auburn News (https://bit.ly/1ccxfe7 ) reports 29-year-old Mark Brandon Kelley went back to the Lee County Detention Center on Friday night after escaping that afternoon. Sheriff deputies say Kelley escaped from the booking area as another inmate was being released.

Opelika police arrested Kelley on a charge of domestic violence and providing false information to an officer. Kelley also had two failure to appear warrants shown after authorities did a background check.

Kelley now faces an additional charge of second-degree escape, which is a felony punishable with a term up to 10 years in prison.
