NIXON, Nev. (AP) - A brush fire that burned 144 acres near Nixon has been 80 percent contained.

KRNV-TV in Reno reports (https://bit.ly/1PiUQpy) that the fire has burnt down two buildings. Firefighters say one residential building was saved.

BLM fire operations specialist Battalion Chief Dan Gustafson says the fire is still active in some old Cottonwood trees but has not burned any more than the 144 acres it took over Sunday night.

He says BLM crews are assessing the trees and mopping up the scene. They hope to completely contain the fire before winds pick up Monday evening.
