PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix woman is in custody for allegedly killing her boyfriend after she says he hit her during an argument.

Marylin Rivera Alvarez is being held on $500,000 bond in a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old Erasmo Gonzales.

She doesn’t have an attorney yet.

Court records show the couple recently had several unreported domestic violence incidents and also that Alvarez struggled with jealousy and control issues.

Saturday night’s incident occurred at a home where the 22-year-old Alvarez and Gonzales live with his parents and other family members.

Relatives say the couple argued in a bedroom and they heard a gunshot.

They entered the room and told police that Alvarez allegedly was kneeling next to Gonzales’ body with a semi-automatic handgun nearby.
