CHATHAM, Va. (AP) - Federal officials will hold a public meeting Thursday to discuss the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline project.
The Danville Register & Bee (https://bit.ly/1Qeo0bN) reports that if approved, the $3.2 billion project would include a 42-inch, 300-mile natural gas pipeline from West Virginia to Chatham.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will hold the meeting.
Commission spokeswoman Celeste Miller says input from the public and interested agencies will be important to help determine what issues need to be focused on in the Environmental Impact Statement.
Environmental issues already identified include: terrain, sinkholes and caves, domestic water sources, forested areas, and historic properties.
The commission will begin signing up speakers for the meeting in Chatham at 6 p.m. that day, an hour before the meeting.
