NEW SQUARE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say four teenagers shouted and tossed eggs as they drove through an Orthodox Jewish community, prompting residents to form a human blockade around the car until police arrived.
Ramapo police Lt. Rob Lancia tells The Journal News (https://lohud.us/1bUzmTl ) that four teenagers were charged with aggravated harassment.
Lancia says the teens were taken into custody after more than 100 residents packed the street and formed human wall around the black Toyota Corolla at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Lancia says the crime was committed with “hate involved.”
Police only identified the driver, 19-year-old Daniel Brophy, and a passenger, 19-year-old Catherine Donnelly. Brophy’s family declined to comment to the newspaper. Donnelly couldn’t be reached for comment.
There were no injuries and no property damage was reported.
