ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The National Weather Service is warning that thunderstorms are expected Monday afternoon and overnight across New Mexico, with the best chance for severe storms and flooding occurring in the southeastern corner.

Forecasts also call for scattered to numerous thunderstorms in the western half of the state and widespread thunderstorms and isolated severe storms mainly in the northeast.

The weather service heavy rain may accompany any of the storms east of the central mountain chain but that the risk for flash flooding is greatest across the east-central and southeastern plaints.
