ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State Troopers say a 34-year-old woman has died after crashing a four-wheeler in the village of Upper Kalskag.
Troopers say Merna Spein of Lower Kalskag was heading west on Main Street Saturday when she lost control of the vehicle, which slipped over two times throwing her off.
Troopers say Spein was not wearing a helmet.
Troopers say the woman sustained severe head trauma and she was transported to the village clinic. Troopers say that within 15 minutes of her arrival, Spein went into cardiac arrest.
Spein was pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday following unsuccessful life-saving measures.
Troopers say the body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
Upper Kalskag is located about 100 miles northeast of Bethel.
