EDINA, Minn. (AP) - Voters will decide Tuesday whether the Edina school district can borrow $125 million for a proposal that calls for modernizing classrooms and expanding the high school.

The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1dH4CWV ) reports the plan for the Twin Cities-area school district would create classrooms with movable furniture, common work spaces and areas that could be divided by movable partitions. A multipurpose activities center would be added to the high school.

The Edina district is among a growing number of schools looking to get away from traditional classroom setups. Many teachers in the district support the plan, saying it would make it easier for students to collaborate.

A group that has organized in opposition to the district’s proposal says it’s unnecessary and doesn’t address needs at schools.
