DONNA, Texas (AP) - About 6,000 students were sent home after a water main break left more than half the campuses in a South Texas school district without water.
The Monitor in McAllen reports (https://bit.ly/1AA3qtg ) that 13 out of the 22 campuses in the Donna Independent School District were without water after a main line ruptured near the city’s water plant Monday morning.
Superintendent Jesus René Reyna says 6,000 students had to be sent home.
Reyna says parents were notified and the district had buses at affected campuses by 9 a.m. to return students home.
The city of Donna is advising residents to boil water they get from faucets until further notice.
Crews are working to fix the water main break.
