LANCASTER, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire woman who fled the state with her 8-year-old daughter more than a decade ago amid a custody dispute is expected to go on trial Friday.
Genevieve Kelley is accused of custodial interference. Last month, a grand jury indicted the 51-year-old Kelley on five new custodial interference and witness tampering charges. She was scheduled to be arraigned on those charges Monday, but that’s been postponed until later in the week.
Authorities said Kelley fled to Central America with her daughter, Mary Nunes, in 2004. Kelley had claimed her ex-husband, the girl’s biological father, abused the child. The father, Mark Nunes, was investigated but never charged. Investigators said they believed he was unfairly accused.
Kelley’s husband, Scott Kelley, faces arraignment on the same charges this week.
