EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A Eugene woman is in jail after allegedly stabbing another woman in the face.

The Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1IH0fXK ) Kasandra Louise Riley faces charges of second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

The 44-year-old Riley was arrested on Sunday, after police responded to reports of a fight at about 3:20 p.m.

Investigators say Riley allegedly stabbed the victim in the face with a knife and fled the scene.

Police found her a short time later and she was taken to the hospital for an arm injury she received during the fight. After she was released from the hospital, she was taken to jail.

Second-degree assault is a Measure 11 crime that carries a mandatory minimum jail sentence of nearly six years if convicted.
