CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - An autopsy is planned on human skeletal remains that hikers discovered at the base of Casper Mountain.

Natrona County Coroner Connie Jacobson tells the Caser Star-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1cizooK ) that an autopsy will take place on Thursday. Officials say the remains, discovered Sunday, had likely been in the open for more than a year.

Jacobson says there was no obvious cause of death, personal effects found nearby did not contain any identifying information and investigators are still trying to determine the person’s age, height and gender.

The coroner’s office plans to take a DNA samples and compare dental records against a database in an effort to identify the person.
