COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - An organization that matches up boys and girls with mentors is holding a meeting for people interested in becoming volunteers.

Big Brothers Big Sisters will have an orientation session at its offices in Columbia on Tuesday.

The organization enrolls children ages 6 through 13 in Richland and Lexington counties. Organizers say mentors work with their assigned children about 4 to 6 hours per month.

In 2013, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia says it served 226 children in Richland and Lexington counties.
