LOS ANGELES (AP) - Forecasters expect big waves to gradually taper off that have pounded Southern California beaches this week.

The National Weather Service says a high-surf advisory will be in effect through 11 p.m. Tuesday.

South-facing beaches have seen big waves and crowds of surfers since the weekend.

Forecasters say the surf kicked up by a Southern Hemisphere storm will slowly subside through the evening.
