FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A coroner has identified a woman whose body was found in a trash barrel.
The office of Allen County Coroner Dr. Craig Nelson said Tuesday that he identified the body of 19-year-old Zhanelle K. Link of Fort Wayne using dental records.
The cause and manner of her death remain under investigation.
Link was a senior at New Haven High School when she disappeared on Dec. 29.
Police say the body was discovered Saturday in the trash barrel behind an abandoned home. They say the home has been boarded up for several months. It’s located about 2 miles from where Link lived with her foster family.
Her family says Link was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and suffered from developmental delays. She also had diabetes.
