DONNA, Texas (AP) - Parents of some students in South Texas have been told to send bottled water to school with their children following a main break.

Classes resume Tuesday throughout the Donna Independent School District after a ruptured water line forced more than half of the schools to close.

Crews continue working to restore water service following Monday’s main break. Superintendent Jesus René Reyna says about 6,000 students had to be sent home.

A statement Tuesday from the district says parents of students at inner city schools should provide bottled water to their children. Schools will also have bottled water available as repairs continue.
