NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The Norfolk Fire Marshal’s Office says a short in a damaged electrical line caused an April explosion that damaged a building.

The office says in a report that an employee of a contractor damaged the line while trying to access a sewer line. The short created high heat conditions.

The report describes the blast as an “air-gas explosion”. Norfolk Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Julian Williamson tells The Virginian-Pilot (https://bit.ly/1Pl56O2 ) that investigators haven’t determined what caused the buildup of heat to ignite.

The April 17 explosion damaged the 84-year-old Selden Arcade, which houses art studios, restaurants and offices.
