TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The former Creek Nation Second Chief has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for embezzling from the tribe.

Federal prosecutors in Tulsa announced Tuesday that Bristow resident Roger Dana Barnett was ordered to serve 33 months in prison and pay nearly $212,000 in restitution.

Additionally, prosecutors said Barnett was sentenced to three years of supervised release and during that time, will be banned from gambling facilities and must attend gambling addiction counseling.

Barnett was charged in August by a grand jury with embezzling tribal funds.

He pleaded guilty to the charge in October.
