BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (AP) - A woman has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $27,000 from a Buckhannon youth sports league.

The Inter-Mountain (https://bit.ly/1EcZXRX ) reports 38-year-old Jamie Riffle pleaded guilty Monday to the felony charge in Upshur County Circuit Court.

Riffle admitted to Senior Judge John Henning that she stole the money from the Buckhannon Youth Football sports league because she was having financial problems at home.

The embezzlement occurred from 2010 until October 2014 while Riffle was acting as treasurer of the organization.

Upshur County Prosecuting Attorney David Godwin says the ongoing theft was discovered after an audit of the organization’s books.

Henning accepted Riffle’s plea as part of a plea agreement. Her sentencing is scheduled for August 4.

Riffle could face one to 10 years in prison.
