ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The girlfriend of a man shot fatally by a Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputy says she never saw 44-year-old Billy Grimm brandish a gun at officers.

The Albuquerque Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1DQ1InS) Sheriff Manny Gonzales said Grimm pulled out a weapon when officers responded Sunday to a report of a fight going on in a car parked in the South Valley area.

Destiny Cardenas says she was standing outside the vehicle, next to the deputy when he fired at least three bullets through the windshield.

Sgt. Aaron Williamson says a gun was found inside the truck Grimm had been driving. The deputy involved in the shooting remains unidentified until he is interviewed about the incident later this week.
