BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - The president and CEO of Brattleboro Retreat is stepping down from the psychiatric hospital at the end of the year.
Rob Simpson has been with the hospital for nine years.
He tells Vermont Public Radio (https://bit.ly/1dKan6e) the hospital had already undergone many changes, including new specialty programs for psychiatric care, when Tropical Storm Irene hit in 2011, and caused the sudden closure of the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury. A new unit for state hospital patients was created.
A search is underway for Simpson’s replacement. He says he is moving to Linkage, a consulting company, and will continue to work on philanthropic efforts for the retreat on a part-time basis.
The hospital’s accreditation was recently renewed for a period lasting up to January 2018.
