CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Logan County circuit judge and a Mingo County magistrate are retiring at the end of June.
The West Virginia Supreme Court announced the retirements of Circuit Judge Roger L. Perry and Magistrate Pam Newsome on Monday in news releases. Both retirements are effective June 30.
The court says the 65-year-old Perry cited health issues in a letter sent to Chief Justice Margaret Workman and Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin notifying them of his retirement.
Tomblin will appoint Perry’s replacement.
Perry was first elected in 1992.
Mingo County Circuit Judge Miki Thompson appointed West Virginia State Police Sgt. Barry Marcum to replace Newsome. Thompson says Marcum will retire from the state police.
The 55-year-old Newsome was first elected in 1997.
