HONOLULU (AP) - Officials are looking for a new vice president take lead Oahu’s paratransit service in the wake of John Black’s demotion to safety coordinator.
Hawaii News Now reports (https://bit.ly/1DQiWRS) Black was demoted last month after four years as head of the organization, which saw a peak in complaints last October as a new system caused ride delays and jammed reservation lines.
Oahu Transit Services president Roger Morton said it’ll take about four months to replace Black.
The group is improving mobile data systems, which Morton said fail about 20 percent of the time and are intended to help dispatchers coordinate passengers. Handi-Van is also adding drivers, getting several million more dollars in funding, and has contracted with Eco-Cab to give rides during peak hours.
