CARTHAGE, Mo. (AP) - The president of Mercy Hospital Carthage has resigned.

The Joplin Globe (https://bit.ly/1GXI9RX ) reports Robert Copeland’s resignation was announced Monday in a news release from the hospital. His resignation will be effective May 31.

Copeland said he is looking forward to spending more time with his family as he considers future opportunities.

Scott Watson, vice president of operations for Mercy Carthage, will serve as administrator after Copeland’s departure.
