FORT KENT, Maine (AP) - The president of the University of Maine at Fort Kent says he will retire in September after five years of service.
Wilson Hess served as the 10th president in the history of northernmost campus in the University of Maine System.
University officials said the Fort Kent campus has led Maine public universities in growth since 2010 with a gain of 24 percent. Its student population of more than 1,000 is the highest in its history. The campus also has the largest undergraduate nursing program among Maine’s public universities.
Hess said Tuesday that he leaves the university “with a sense of completion” thanks to the increased enrollment.
