ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - A prosecutor has told a judge the state won’t offer plea agreements to a central Indiana man and his wife charged with the neglect of a teenage granddaughter found weighing less than 40 pounds.

The Herald Bulletin reports (https://bit.ly/1GYw1QO ) Madison County Deputy Prosecutor Stephanie Wade made the statement during a pretrial conference Monday.

Defense attorneys said they did not plan to present special defenses for the Anderson couple. The each face at least 11 counts accusing them of abusing the physically and mentally disabled teenager, now 16, and keeping her locked in a room, day and night, nearly every day from 2011 until police discovered her Dec. 1. Their trial remains set for June 9.

The girl’s weight had recovered to about 70 pounds by March.
