RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Siena Hotel Spa Casino in downtown Reno is changing hands for the second time in its 14 year history.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://on.rgj.com/1zKywnq) that Grand Siena LLC says it has agreed sell the eight-story, 214-room property on the Truckee River at an undisclosed price.
A Monday news release from Grand Siena says the deal is expected to close this summer.
The release does not identify the buyer but says the new owner plans a multi-million-dollar renovation and will partner with an internationally recognized hotel and resort brand.
Grand Siena says existing employees will be able to interview for positions under the new owner.
Tribal gaming in California, a national recession and the 9/11 attacks have contributed to the Tuscany-themed Siena’s struggle since opening its doors in summer 2001.
