RICHLANDS, N.C. (AP) - The Onslow County sheriff says the father of an infant who died over the weekend has acknowledged killing the child with a kitchen knife.
WITN-TV (https://bit.ly/1EcwpUK) reports that 1-year-old Ruby Rayne Young died Sunday morning after suffering severe loss of blood from a single laceration.
Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller says that the infant’s father, 37-year-old Anthony Young of Richlands, has been charged with murder. Miller says Young called 911 around 5:40 a.m. Sunday and said he killed his baby.
Young was scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday but officials say because of his mental state, his first appearance has been delayed.
It was not clear if Young had an attorney to comment on the charges.
