JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Shuttle buses are scheduled to begin running in Denali Park and Preserve later this month.

Shuttle buses are a popular way for tourists to see Denali, where private vehicle use is restricted. The park, in a release, says shuttle buses will begin providing access as far as west as the Toklat River at mile 53 of the 92-mile park road on May 20, weather and road conditions permitting. Buses to the Eielson Visitor Center are scheduled to begin running June 1, and the span of the road is expected to be open June 8.

The park says the road will be open to mile 30 to private vehicles through May 19. The first 15 miles of the road will remain open to private vehicle travel throughout the summer season.
