MANDAN, N.D. (AP) - The Mandan City Commission has approved two projects that will be funded by a $4.3 million Hub City program started by the Legislature to help cities impacted by the energy industry.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1LqYpY7 ) the city will add a new fire hall on the north side of town and make water infrastructure upgrades to the northwest, where growth is exploding.

Mandan Fire Chief Steve Nardello says the new building is needed because the city is not meeting national standards on responding to north-side calls. He says some responses can take as long as 12 minutes.
